President-elect Donald Trump has unveiled an aggressive immigration plan as part of his re-election campaign, vowing to deport illegal immigrants to their home countries using military force if necessary. He also promised to impose strict penalties on nations that refuse to cooperate with deportation agreements, signaling a hardline stance on illegal immigration.

In a recent interview with Time magazine for its “Person of the Year” issue, Trump emphasized that no nation—even allies—would be exempt from his policies. “I’m for America, not for other countries,” he declared, drawing a comparison to his past decisions to impose sanctions on Russia despite maintaining a friendly rapport with President Vladimir Putin.

Tough Measures Against Non-Compliant Nations

Trump announced plans to sever trade ties with nations unwilling to negotiate the repatriation of deported migrants. “If countries refuse to take back their people, we won’t do business with them,” he stated, adding that high tariffs would be levied on imports from non-cooperative nations.

He specifically targeted Canada and Mexico, blaming them for the influx of illegal immigrants and drug trafficking, including fentanyl. Trump has threatened a 25% tariff on imports from both countries to address these issues, as reported by the New York Post.

Mass Deportation Plans

Under his proposed policies, Trump aims to carry out the largest deportation operation in U.S. history, appointing Tom Homan as his “border czar” to lead the effort. He also underscored his intent to reduce reliance on migrant camps by expediting deportations. To avoid family separations, Trump pledged that entire families would be deported together, regardless of their immigration status.

“We are seeing criminals enter our country like never before. I will take action to the fullest extent allowed by law,” Trump said. He further revealed plans to deploy the National Guard to assist local law enforcement in managing illegal immigration.

A Central Campaign Focus

Trump’s re-election campaign has heavily focused on the surge of illegal immigration, which he attributes to the policies of the Biden administration. He has positioned himself as a candidate capable of restoring law and order through sweeping immigration reforms, including the mass deportation of millions of undocumented individuals.

Recognition for ‘Historic Comeback’

Trump’s hardline immigration stance comes as he secures his second title as Time magazine’s “Person of the Year.” He first received the honor in 2016 following his unexpected presidential win. The magazine credited him with a “historic comeback” that reshaped U.S. politics, edging out other contenders like Kamala Harris, Elon Musk, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the recognition this year.
